Sony has introduced the ZV-E1 a full frame mirrorless camera for bloggers for $2199.
Sony has unveiled the ZV-E1 mirrorless camera, which will provide "the highest content creation experience." The novelty has a full-frame image sensor, mount for lenses with an E mount, and also supports AI technologies that are inherent in more expensive cameras of the Alpha and Cinema series. ZVE1 is focused on YouTube bloggers, streamers and other creators of video content.
Sony Z VE 1 received the same full-frame 12-megapixel image sensor with reverse illumination as the A7S III camera. This sensor provides a wide dynamic range with more than 15 levels, as well as an ISO range from 80 to 102,400, which can be extended to 409,600.
The new camera received a Bionz XR image processor and a dedicated specialized AI chip - both are used in the more upscale Sony A7R V model. Like the latter, the autofocus in Sony ZV-E1 supports face and animal recognition, can track people and their movements, and is even able to focus on objects, even if they are facing away or partially obscured.
The ZV-E1 is capable of shooting 4K video at 60 fps without pixel binning. A little later, Sony will release a firmware update that will allow you to shoot new videos in 4K@120 and in Full HD@240. The camera is capable of shooting in S-Log and in All-intra 4:2:2/10 bits. Connection to an external monitor using microHDMI is supported, but there is no support for shooting in RAW format. For streamers, it will be useful to be able to shoot in 4K@30 and FullHD@60 with transmission via USB Type-C.
Sony claims that the ZV-E1 is the best tool for creating "perfect in—camera content", offering more controls and creative possibilities for obtaining materials that can be used immediately than ever before. The controls in the new product have been redesigned compared to the previous ZV cameras, taking the best features of the Alpha and FX cameras. The novelty will offer more controls for setting up shooting, available in one touch, as well as a quick My Style menu for quickly applying filters and effects.
ZV-E1 offers the ability to get color correction right in the camera, offering built—in Cinematic Vlog settings - LUT presets offer five "images" and four "moods" to change the perception of the footage. ZV-E1 allows users to download their own LUT presets as well.
ZV-E1 has also received a new frame stabilization mode, which allows you to keep the selected framing of the object in motion using variable digital zoom. ZV-E1 uses artificial intelligence to track an object and save its position in the frame. The ZV-E1 also offers a new Dynamic Active mode, which is an improved digital stabilization that allows you to stabilize the entire scene with fixed framing.
The ZV-E1 camera is able to automatically crop and adjust the video so that the subject remains in the center of the frame, even if it moves. The function can also work for several objects, and the camera can automatically switch between them and keep in focus. You can also configure the function manually through the camera itself or a mobile application. Note that when in framing mode, the camera will not be able to record video in 4K — only in Full HD, and at the same time, the framing will never exceed 4x digital zoom.
Sony ZV-E1 will go on sale in April at a price of $2199 for the camera itself or for $2499 for a camera complete with a 28-60 mm lens.
